Our Home Region

Nine Mile Falls sits on the Spokane River northwest of the city, and the Spokane region is where Heavy Metal has its deepest roots. Eastern Washington has a large and varied waterfront — lakes, reservoirs, rivers and ponds spread across a wide geography, each with its own conditions, bottom types and construction challenges. Because we're based here, we know the region well.

Dock Construction in Eastern Washington

Waterfront properties throughout the Spokane area and Eastern Washington are our most common project territory. We build custom fixed and floating docks for residential properties, replace aging docks that have reached the end of their useful life and handle dock additions and extensions for properties where the existing structure no longer meets the owner's needs.

Pile Driving in the Spokane Region

Heavy Metal operates purpose-built marine equipment including work barges we fabricate ourselves. This gives us the ability to position equipment precisely on the water and drive pilings at sites that are not accessible by land-based machinery — which is a common situation on Eastern Washington waterfront properties where the shoreline is steep, rocky or otherwise difficult to access from land.

Seawalls & Shoreline Stabilization

Shoreline erosion is a real problem on many Eastern Washington waterfront properties. Wave action, boat wakes, fluctuating water levels and the freeze-thaw cycles of Inland Northwest winters all contribute to bank instability over time. Heavy Metal handles seawall construction, shoreline stabilization and structural cable bolting as part of complete waterfront construction projects.

In-House Fabrication Advantage

Because Heavy Metal fabricates its own aluminum and steel components, work barges and marine equipment, we can take on projects that require custom solutions. When a site has unusual geometry, difficult access or conditions that a standard dock kit isn't designed for, we build what the project actually needs rather than adapting a product that wasn't designed for it.

Eastern Washington Dock Construction Often Involves

  • →Custom dock design for varied bottom conditions — rock, sand, silt and mixed substrates
  • →Pile driving for fixed dock foundations
  • →Floating dock systems for lakes with significant seasonal water-level variation
  • →Gangway fabrication and installation to connect the dock to shore
  • →Covered dock and canopy structures
  • →Boat lift installation
